PDX Commons, a senior co-housing community, is designed to support individuals seeking a unique blend of efficient sustainable living and community. The architecture provides comfortable, efficient apartments for each family that maximize daylight and ventilation in all units. Common areas encourage community gathering and shared uses which will assist residents with aging in place. The facade, comprised of varied materials and colors, differentiates each unit and knits the building into the neighborhood fabric. A roof terrace provides space for gathering and gardening—an important amenity for the users, whose voices were integral to the design process.
